Head Coach:

Head Coaches are official representatives of the youth football program and must represent the City of Greensboro Parks & Recreation Department in positive manner.  Head coaches are responsible for enforcing all by-laws/rules of the football program offered by Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department. Head Coaches are required to prepare practice plans, game plans and help in the recruitment of assistant coaches. 

 

All Head Coaches are required to complete the volunteer enrollment process and pass the mandatory background check as well as complete the USA Football Heads Up training before being allowed to coach. Head Coaches shall ensure that all players’ parents are informed of team practices, games or cancellations due to weather.

 

Head Coaches must be willing to commit to practices and games with their teams. Practices are held Monday through Thursday during the preseason (August). Typically coaches will spend 3 hours a day at practice for a total of 12 hours per week.  Games are typically played on Saturdays starting in September.  On game days, coaches will spend 1.5 and 2 hours at the game sites.

 

Assistant Coach:  

Assistant Coaches aid the Head Coach in executing the football program for their assigned teams. Assistant Coaches are official representatives of the football program and are subject to the same requirements and guidelines as Head Coaches. All Assistant Coaches are expected to represent the youth football program in a positive manner. All Assistant Coaches are required to complete the volunteer enrollment process and pass the mandatory background check as well as complete the USA Football Heads Up training before being on the field to coach. There should be one assigned assistant coach for each team to keep a daily record of attendance at practices.
